On 10in drums and thinking of upgrading to 12in wheels and discs but my 1980 min has no servo. Can the combined servo/brake master cylinder from later cars be fitted to my mini? Will have to replace the manifold as well unless someone tells me that I can still stop the car without a servo. Does the brake pedal assembly also have to be changed?

Servos do not improve the brakes at all, they just make the pedal lighter and the Servo in a Mini doesn't do much of that! The regular Mini was fitted with disc brakes as standard from 1984 and didn't get a servo until 1989, the cars made in those five years stop just as well as any others! >_< If you really want to fit one it can be done quite easily and has been described here a few times.
