I've sarched the Forum but couldn't find the answer so hope someone can help?

I have two pairs of Knuckle Joints that I bought off eBay (two dieffernt orders/sellers) for rebuild of my Mini suspension (with HiLo's).. Just tried them in the HiLo and realise they are slightly different!

They are all the same overall length but one pair have 9/16" dia ends with 1/8" thick collar and the other pair have 1/2" dia ends and 1/16" collar, both are 3/4" long from underside of collar to end and 2.3/4" overall length.

Unfortunately, I can't remember who supplied which ones so I'll take it as a "lesson learned" and buy two more, but which ones??? Anyone shed some light on the matter please?

Spacer knuckles (the type with a thicker collar) were fitted to later Minis to raise the suspension a little to accomodate the 12" wheels. There was a thread all about these a little while ago. They should both be the same ball diameter though, the smaller one may be worn or non genuine. Personally I would never use non genuine knuckles. There have been quite a few knuckle and ball joint failures in the last few years, usually from non genuine joints and the results are never pretty as you can imagine. If you can't tell whether the joints you are buying from E-bay are genuine then is it really worth risking it for the couple of quid you are saving?

Here is a link to the recent thread about knuckles. You should remember it since you started it! O_O

Cheers Dan, I did check the responses to my original post but there's no mention of the pin diameter, ie.e the bit that sticks up insode the trumpet? there is mention of a 1/2" washer which could be taken as the pin end is 1/2" but this still leaves me confused as the newer type with the 1/8" washer built in has a 9/16" daimeter end and it's this one that fits snuggly in the spare HiLo trumpet I have??? Obviously, the 1/2" pin has a bit of a wobble when fitted!

I may have missed something along the way O_O and need it spelling out????

Are they Hi-Los or Adjust-a-Rides? The Adjust-a-Ride is made by Mini Sport and is different from a Hi-Lo. Mini Sport always stated in their literature in the past that their unit needed a special design of knuckle, but they don't say that any more. This may be the difference although I must say I've never known of a different pin diameter knuckle. Unless it's an Alegro part. Sorry, I got the wrong end of the stick about the measurements you were quoting.

Just been to have a look and they are Mini-Sport Adjusta-Rides with 9/16" bore in the trumpet end!!!
I wonder how many other people have been caught out with that?

The Mini Sport advert now states that all components are interchangeable with standard parts so I guess the ones I have must be of the original ones?

2nd edit

just checked Mini Sport website and they do market special Knuckle Joints for Adjusta-Ride units (doesn't say what the difference is though - I think they should??? :) :) :P  :xxx: :xxx: O_O :ghost:

I have just recently bought genuine Hi-Los and Genuine knuckles from Minispares and the knuckles are a 'wobbly' loose fit in the Hi-los.

Now I thought this was an issue - surely it would cause more wear, and possibly cause 'knocking' from the suspension, but when I've asked people say this is normal with genuine parts?!
