Introducing Anders, Mrs Teapot's Norwegian nephew, who is doing his national service in the far north of the country. The story goes that one of his duties where three countries meet (?Norway, Finland & Lapland maybe?) is to stop tourists from running round the marker pole to say they've visited 3 countries in 3 seconds, thus causing a diplomatic incident. Buy maybe that's just soldiers' talk.

However, it is true that in the grand tradition of army recruits everywhere his mum & dad have had to fork out a few quid (well, a lot of quids) for a decent pair of snow boots. Apparently ordinary leather isn't up to the conditions there.

The Northern Lights photo is a bit blurred but what the heck? At least he's been there, seen that.

Beautiful piccies, Mr Teapot. (Are you back for good? :) )
I would love to see the Northern (or Southern....or both...) Lights before I pop my clogs. :) I don't fancy camping there, though. Anders is a braver man than I. He plobly doesn't get much choice doing National Service, does he? ;)

Beautiful, I've sailed around the coast of Norway and Sweden, I've even spent two weeks in Iceland, but I've never seen the Northern Lights!

My Dad has some beautiful photographs of them when he had a 2 month expedition to Greenland, and the edge of the Arctic Circle.

One day I will go there with my Dad.
