Hi wonder if i can get any help on this 1.

I had taken a corner a bit to sharpe and ripped the tyre off the rim and had no spare tyre. luckly i was only down the road from my house so i drove home wivin 30 seconds of flying sparks and dodgy steering. When i had this wheel replaced a horrible knocking noise comes from the o/s/f when i go fowards and backwards (only in gear though) I had come to the conclusion that i bent my driveshaft. I then asked DC Minis what i should do and they said that there pretty sure it would not of been the driveshaft.

Please help !!!!

im thinking the shock of the rim being with out a tyre has shot the cv bearing in the driveshaft ends that go on ya wheel ! try jacking it up the side its knoking and spin the wheel if it knocks get new bearings >_< failing that u have hit a Woodpecker who is *Drunk or yellow human water* off you

That's a bit...worrying. How often do you check your tyre pressures?
It's unlikely to be the driveshafts, I read somewhere that the standard mini ones can take a hell of a beating.
Sounds like a bearing problem. Also, did you replace the alloy or just the tyre?

Hi,

I check the car over regularly or whenever I get a chance. I had replaced the steel wheel and the tyre (brand New). With a bit of persuading I will get my dad and my brother to look at this. I have noticed that there is a bit of an oil leak now coming from the centre of the car.

Sounds like the shock load may have transferred to the output shaft... more likely to be the outer CV causing the knock..

Hi all,

Just came home and my old man said when he jacked this up he had a look around it seems he couldnt find much wrong except when he shook the wheel it had a little bit of play in it. He said it could be the wheel bearings collapsin from when i drove home on a rim. Any 1 no how much it would cost to repair this or if its easiy enough to do.

Thanks

Yer play, is mostly associated with Wheel Bearings going!
Replace it and see.

Well I took the mini to the my m8s uncles garage (who was at the time restoring a cooper SPI) and it seems like it was none of these that was making the noise. He looked around and discovered that my engine steady bushes are buggerd and the engine moving backwards and fowards is what is making this horrid knocking noise. Although I do need to change wheel bearings as they seem knackerd as well causing play in the wheel.

But Thanks All
