I have a sportspack and want to change the wheels, looking at 10 inchers but wondering what people have put on theirs?

there are some cooper replica wheels that are alloy 10 these fit over 8.4 brakes but may need spacing out to fill the sportpack arches. i think there was another thread about sportpack arches and 10's but you are a little limited if your sticking with those brakes.

Oh yeah. I think Mini Magic as those 10's and so does retroracer1380. They do look really nice. I guess buying the wheels would be cheaper than buying a new brake set-up, new wheels and new arches though...?

I keep thinking abotu them - would like to see them on a car (a whole picture) with arches, I guess they have spacers to gove over the discs?

How does the car handle with them on? Being spaced out that far, wouldn't they give you massive bump steer?

now that i didn't get a chance to test, however i think Amy and Sy on here have a set and they had nothing but good things to say about the wheel.

Nick

P.S. try a search as i've seen quite a few topics about them

Yeah I've heard good things about them too... I just wonder what they'd be like on my OEW sportspack... (after a quick photochop)

I'm thinking it could do with some hi-lo's at the back as I have some hi-lo's at the front already... Then smack it down a lickle bit more!?

Personally I feel they look a lot better when lowered, but they would still look fine with standard ride height. The handling is much improved over the 13" Sportspack wheels.

A comparison between standard height and lowered height.

An overall look on lowered ride height.

I also think the white 10" wheels would look better on yours, as opposed to the chrome ones.

You're starting to convince me a whole lot more now! Its also because I saw your mini at Ace this month... looks really good.

Hmmmm... I wonder how much I could sell the sportspack wheels for now... hmmmm...

as far as i am aware, they cooper wheels are the only 10"s which will clear your brakes. in terms of steer on them, i believe there is barely any noticeable difference.. i would imagine being lowered with sportpacks would look alot better with 10's

I have these wheels on mine.

That picture minispeed use is criminal!! Mine stick out slightly past sportpack arches at the front!! I'm running unspacerd drums at the back so my rears are over arched. To look good with sportpack, like any 10"s, the car needs to be lowered a fair amount to kill the tyre/arch gap.

As for handling, not as sharp as the 10x6 Starmags or Mambas I've rolled but better than any 13" I've had.

The biggest problem is you have to put up with people at shows, meets or on forums telling you how your wheel barings will last weeks, or how they "hang off the end" of the studs or that you should get some "real 10"s". Here's me thinking it's about wheel size and not how much you've spent on brakes (for the record I swapped my Cooper S 7.5"s for them )

In 2 years of being on the car the car has had 1 new bearing, the previous 2 years on cooper s it had 3. A lot of it is just down to when bearings go, yes the offset will cause increased wear, but it's not anything to keep you awake at night. Hanging off the studs?? If these haters took the time to actually look at one of these wheels they'd soon see that is far from the case, and as for the 10" snobs, I use my car for driving and having fun, not for bragging or bar points!!

That looks sweet. I'm guessing that's one that hasn't been lowered? I have front hi-lo's and will be getting some rear ones in preparation on purchasing the 'S' replica's from minispeed. So to get the wheels to fill the rear arches I'd need some spaced mini fins of some sort? I think that's my other concern filling in the rear arches!

It's a tricky look to pull off, mine has been lowerd but there is still quite an arch/tyre gap. As mine is a daily (and I have trouble getting in my backyard!) it's sensibly low, I've been silly low and am now an expert at exhaust replacement!! lol

If your car is a genuine sportpack it'll have spacerd rear drums already which will push the wheel out futher than mine and as far as minifins would. Personally I still think with the spacerd rear drums wheels still look over arched with sportpacks.
