with a blank canvas and no idea what you want there are so many options to chose from. Firstly you need to get some half decent speakers up front, either in the dash, doors or some custom speaker builds, with a 12" sub i'd recommend putting 6" speakers in so as to give a bit more punch from them, and then the really low stuff from the sub.

You'll ideally need a headunit with built in low pass/high pass filters so that the correct frequencies go to the speakers and preferably a sub out.

As for the sub there are a few ways you could go, firstly fit the sub in either a sealed or ported enclosure (ported is better but requires bigger box) or you could get a free-air sub it won't quite be as loud but is better for space and properly installed give very good results, they don't use a box instead you would use the boot area as your enclosure. Its a bit more of an involved process which is why most people opt for a box.

What sort of budget are you on?

ok!!
plan is to go for sub in boot!!no door speakers because of roll cage!!depending on size of speaker mount them either dash or console(gonna build 1 so can design around them)!!

i have nothing yet but budget is kinda put on best sound around (preferably under) £300!!

i do hav a pioneer amp 70x70 which was given to me if that helps!!

It doesn't mean 70 channel amp that means its 2x70w.
Thats not really any good as this will only be about 5-10w rms better than a hu depending on what you go for, and it would mean you need a distrobtion block and another amp wiring kit which will cost atleast £40 for decent parts and for the sake of 10w rms max not really worth the money and time. Best bet is to put this extra money into a decent hu not a cheap this is the main part to your system, and in future could save you alot of money. Try to get one with atleast 2 preouts, hpf&lpf, crossover and eq this will make your system very tunable:

Get a 4ch amp & bridge it for the sub and then use the other 2 ch's to power some decent comps up front.

sell the 6x9's and get some comps this is a great deal especially with the amp been 3 channel mode: 2 x 104W RMS + 284W RMS for sub and has a crossover!
Total cost £389.99 +p&p I know its over budget but its worth £639.98

its a bit boring but you need to start off with some sound deadening first

then you need to work out how to wire up a stereo from scratch, it isnt that hard really, first you need to find a permanent live, usually you can run it directly from the car battery, then you need to find a switched live coming from the cars ignition. After youve done that you need to work out where you are going to earth it, again the car battery is a good place to look.

After that its just wiring up speakers (whatever takes your fancy) usually components are best up front, with the most popular solution being 6x9's in the back. Then wire up an aerial and get your CD's on the go.

Then you can start to think about amplfiers and equalizers, as these are trickier to install, i would say that its best to start off learning by fitting the basic system first. Then moving onto the more complicated things later, but its up to you, and what you feel up to doing. Good luck

need any more info just ask

rite It's up to you really most people hate 6x9's and would adivise against them, I not one of these people as I personally feal a top notch set add a bit more clarity over the sub's all bass output, However in your case I would still sell them and put the extras money into better comps. This will do as ull have midrange, tweeters and a sub so will hopefully get a good sound staging. Adding the 6x9's may spoil this for a number of reasons also this would make one set of speakers underpowered and not reach there full potential.
Right as for where to mount them get some kickbuilds or some underdash pods the decent ones that don't get in the way though! :cheese:

the speaker builds i have i find don't really obstruct you getting in and out of the car, the door builds i used to have would get in the way a bit. Also they don't get in the way at all when driving.
I think with the sound quality you get from them they are well worth it.
