Have a small problem- need to remove the nasty faded "City" decals from the body and boot of my City E. They are welded on from what I can see but before I go any further I want rid of them.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks!

No no no. By a candy wheel its a rubber disc that is designed to remove them without damage to the paint underneath. Any bodyshop supply company will know what your on about and it goes on the end of a drill.

Nope! Hairdryer or hot air gun (on it's lowest setting... :P ), they will peel off, then you can remove any adhesive residue with an alcohol-based product (deodorant, screenwash, vodka, brake cleaner). It won't damage your paintwork if you don't use anything abrasive to try & peel it off.

Hair dryer is perfectly good, you won't damage the paint unless you use a sharp implement to remove the decal, or you get it too hot and bubble the paint. It is more likely to damage the paint using a fudge wheel as they can get very hot and fade the paint underneath, or in the worst case it could burn through.

Exactly. If you stay in the same spot for too long with the wheel you can easily damage the paint. Much safer to go for the hairdryer option.

Senile old git has a 'rubber' type thingy for an angle grinder which takes them off with no markings or stress....
