Is this difficult to do? Has anyone else done this? I couldn't find any threads that related to this.
Any suggestions?

The binnacle screws in to some holes that will already be in your bulkhead (according to Haynes) you can use selft tappers to hold it on or tack weld some bolts to the back of the holes.Hi, i'm wanting to change my 1992 rover walnut dash with an old style centre binnacle and just have the shelf rather than the glove box etc.
Is this difficult to do? Has anyone else done this? I couldn't find any threads that related to this.
Any suggestions?
you can get lining kits so suit that will give you that shelf, or you could make ashelf from thin MDF and trim it how you like

So when i take off the walnut dash and dials there will be a gap where the shelf would be on an older mini? How many lining kit will i need ? Is it one for the front of the bulkhead and another for the shelf ?

Yep, you'll need to remove the top dash rail too, which may mean you'll need to cover/paint the upper rail.

Maybe you could be of service if i need to cover the upper dash rail? Do you do the handbrake and gear stick gaitors in black leather/vinyl ?

Um..
Yeah

I've changed my mini from the 2 offset plasticky dials, to the 3 dial smiths centre clocks...
I have to admit though - I didn't do it myself!

It's a case of following the wiring and just chopping it in and hooking it all up, really!!

I believe that you can get the conversion kit from jupitus or Moss, but we didn't do either - we just used what was there and connected it all up!
We also had to change the speedo drive gears, add an oil pressure gauge with t-piece etc, and add another bulb for the illumination etc...
Sorry I can't really help!

Pikey was supposed to be drawing up the wiring diagram that he did, when he sorted it all out for me - but then he sodded off back to work in China, so that didn't happen, lol

Are you going from a triple dial set, or a double, like mine?

But I've got the wiring in place for the rev-counter when I need it!
Um...
I should be sorting out some lining for my dash within the next few weeks. If you haven't done it before then, I'll drop you a PM. I'll take the binnacle out and take photos of which wires are running into where, if that helps?
I would love to hand you a wiring diagram, but I just don't have it to hand, unfortunately!

That would be a massive help cheers. I'll get some pics of mine up tomorrow so you can see what i'm dealing with.
Thanks again. moggy
