hi people,
so when i bought my beautiful mini, (from a guy a know) i was told we could sort the v5c out no problem, anyways after a few weeks my m8s been a little busy with a few affairs out of his control so i've decided to apply myself and get this thing sorted.
Anyway what i need to know is exactly what to do! Is it just the v5c i need? or do i need a registration certificate or something the car is currently sorn'ed, i've got the v62 form here and to be honest it's just confusing me more :S
as always thanks people!

The V5c IS the registration document. Your mate needs to send off the old one with your details on (section 6) and signed by both of you (section 8) and you fill in and keep the stub (section 10), then the DVLA will send you a new one. How to do it is all written on the form. Once you have the car registered to you and have insurance and an MOT then you may apply for road tax and take the car off SORN.

When I sold my last mini (registered in my ex's name, but was legally mine) All I done , was popped into the post office, and asked for a re-registration form
You fill out the cars details, pop it in the post along witha cheque for £20, and 6-ish weeks later, you're now the registered owner of the car

There's no point paying the re-registration fee if you already have the V5c though. Transferring the existing reg is free and quicker than re-registering.

The last owner of mine couldn't be bothered to sort out the V5 and never had one since he owned it, the last keeper change was way before he owned it so I just sent off for my name to be put on it for £25..
Not heard anything back yet.

'Blue' will be fine.
PLG means private / light goods. You can probably put either but it might be best to spell it out to them!'
