Hey,

Scroll down for pictures

Hoping everyone had a good weekend, I picked up a friend for Molly!

My car, shown below in a slightly dated photo, is a modified 1985 Mayfair in fetching Targa Red.

I picked up a solid 1984 City in Zircon Blue with the intention of having it read for when the other half passes her test! Mechanically it needs a new battery, timing and fuelling adjusting, (probably), and the exhaust hanging properly.
Cosmetically it needs drivers side wing and A-Panel, bonnet and boot lid painting, (all in primer as of yesterday).
I'll be sticking some girlie chrome bits on too, pictures to follow at some point soon.

Not quite yet, was planned for the weekend, but first I couldn't get the door hinge off, and now the MIG's packed up. Rubbish!

Boyfriend? I think Molly prefer's girl on girl, she shared a garage with Elsie for a bit, and now she's friend with Maisie.

Obviously needs some work, but she'll run this weekend, (new earth strap and battery required), and some paint, everything else is there, though some parts not currently attached.

That's well cool, matching Mini's! Your little Mayfair is ace, did you remove the side repeaters yourself? I heard Mini's are the best car to learn to drive in...my Mrs is a bit carphobic...good idea to let her loose with my Min?

Mini's built before 1986 did not have side repeaters, and don't require them by law, note the blue one is a 1984, and doesn't have any either. Cars later then 1986 should have side repeaters, so prob. best not to remove them for legal reasons, or could be an MOT failure.

Got the blue one running now, the earth strap had about 8 strands left, the points wouldn't spark, and two of the plugs were arcing (sp.) to earth.

Soooo... New points, condenser, rotor arm, dizzy cap, plugs, leads, earth strap and a gallon of new fuel in the tank and after a few coughs it started, having been sat in a garage for almost two years!

Unfortunately I didn't get much further, had to take the horses out, but next weekend will be timing and mixture optimisation, (both re nearly correct), and then it's just paint, polish, trim, and MOT, it doesn't even owe me £400 yet!
