Can anyone confirm what final drive was fitted to the Mini Cooper Spi? I was sure it was a 3.2 like the Metro Turbo, but everywhere I look seems to say it's a 3.1...

I know the standard Sprite/mayfair Spi had a 3.1, but I thought the Cooper was different!

Thanking you!

i think it is a 3.1 to be honest there isn't that much difference between a 3.2 and a 3.1

That's cool, I know there isn't much difference in reality. I'm just trying to get my facts right for a Minimag article.

That's a very good question Jeff - there seems to be some ambiguity about whether the SPi Cooper was fitted with a 3.1 or 3.2....

Does anyone actually know the answer??

Thanks

3.2 as far as I am aware. We have new complete SPI engines in stock, the little sticker on the back of the diff housing equates to 3.2

How quickly do you need to know?

Although not the most accurate method, I could get Rach to drive her '94 Cooper along at a predetermined rpm Her rev counter doesn't work!

Never mind.

Sprocket may know the answer as he has/had a sprite/mayfair SPI.

Where's the ANORAK when you need him

@Simon: where on your site is the link for engines?
