What you buy depends on what you use your mini for.
If it's an everyday driver and reliability and longevity is a must, the I would go for genuine. But if it's just some weekend fun, for the miles you'll be doing then pattern are generally OKish.
That said, if it's panels... rover/heritage all the way... nothing fits as well.

I'll be using it daily and the odd track day as well... so it looks like my wallet is going to get a raping!
Bearings and Swivel pins where something I thought had a quality standard, and where up to the task of day to day use, and anything more you'd be looking at race spec parts and serous upgrade kit, when your really pushing the boat out.

I just bought new ball join t kits and went for the non genuine - They were half the price. I got mixed views as to which to get but in the end i got non genuine because i thought - Such a vital part has to be made to a certain standard, so even the non genuine ones will be up to the job.

I go non-gen.
Mainly because of cash, also my local shop has what it has.

the non gen swivel pins are not bad, if theyre quinton hazell ones. just get taper roller wheel bearings, go for a decent brand like SKF, Quinton Hazell, Timken etc. a lot of the better brands use the O.E spec Timken bearings anyway.

Exactly what redhotmini said - QH ball joints are OE quality & half the price and most roller taper bearings are plain boxed Timken or SKF - if you can take a look at them before buying, they'll be marked on the bearings themselves with the manufacturers details.

a lot of it is the same it all has to be built to a certain standard, i'd go for non genuine but i do agree that panels are worth paying more for to get the best fitting ones.
