Hi guys, Im about to test fit my new safety devices cage and I am wondering what the best way of getting it into the back of the car? I have to keep my rear bins as per the rules of the racing. Any advice or guides much appreciated

Assuming its a cage withot a diagonal - Get a ratchet strap, loop it round the legs and tighten it to compress the cage so that it doesn't wreck the paint on the interior.

The best thing to do is lower the top bar as much as you can against the dashboard - Your better off removing the steering wheel, lift the bottom legs into the bins then lower it backwards and into place - Its easier said than done.

If it is a cage with a diagonal then its the same process but without the rachet strap and with more swearing and scratching of paint :D

hi there ,GOOD LOOK with this job i fitted a rear with a fixed diagonal not so long ago i finished up with , steering col , drivers door , seatbelts , seats , n/s 1/4 glass ,intearior mirror ,sun visors, carpets out and undoing dash top rail but didnt remove that i strugled getting it in the rear bins as the roof and head linning are very close , i dont think i would have managed this job with out ratchet straps x2 and lots of swearing

In the Jan 08 mini magazine there is a guide if you can get hold of it.

smashed hands, smashed mini, smashed pride, but worth it in the end! all i will say is just take your time and once you start to loose your rag,and you will just count to ten and take some deep breaths, good luck.

you might find it alot easyer then if its a bare shell , i wish i had fitted mine before rebuilding the rest of the car and then thinking ' i want a rollcage now , i also put gaffa tape round the mounting points to try and protect against scrathes but found this hard to remove once the cage was in place . GOOD LUCK AND ALL THE BEST !

The Ratchet strap way i the only way i have found, also if your car is painted then strap a few rags around the feet and over the corners as not to scratch your paint
