Any ideas??!

Was parked up on the side of the street, in neutral with hazzards and headlights on and the car just stalled.
It had been feeling a bit light all day so I'd filled it up earlier just to make sure I wasn't running on empty!

about a week ago I had a short fixed that had caused complete engine cut out at 50mph, but this def felt/sounded like stalling. And yes, there's plenty of oil in her.

Any ideas or could it be just one of those things?
Ta very much
Beck xx

Well I'm no expert, but I would think something along the lines of fuel bloackage or air suffocation. Although probably just one of those mini quirks if it doesn't happen again! How come you had your hazards on?!

could be be just about anything, from electrical to fuel.....

example, There may be a earth on the wiring which is causing the coil to not provide the spark...

or as jammy says, therecould be a blockage in the fuel pipe

If it stalls when standing still i'd me more inclinded to suspect electrical, as not a lot of fuel's being used.

Youre meant to put hazards on AFTER you've broken down, not before...

In my experience 90% of these kind of problems are electrical rather than fuel-related, but what do you mean by feeling a bit light all day? if you got v low on fuel it might have dragged some cr*p from the tank into the fuel line and caused a blockage. but my money's on mr lucas's handiwork.

Yea, and with minis, no matter when you put your hazards on, I think it will have been close enough to the last breakdown to qualify as being after the last one, instead of being before the next inevitable one!!

fair enough. does this mean i only have to wait till the next time the flasher unit for the hazards goes to mean it'll never break down again??

Well,
a) i was just dropping off a friend after night out so had hazzards on.
B) It had half a tank of petrol in it, or so I thought and only took £6 to fill up so prob true -doesn't explain why it felt light thou (and yep, I checked the tyres they're OK) so doubt dragging c**p from tank.
c) just took it to auto-electricans a week ago because engine cut out, I'll go back there and annoy them!!!!

Drove back from really boring symposium about cross infection control and bonnet was really, really hot! (ARGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH) but it didn't stall!!

Not gonna risk driving to the riv, looks like it's gonna be a lush weekend. Enjoy all.

Thanks for the ideas. xx
