Hi,
I've noticed a recent deluge of posts asking how much a mini is worth, the obvious answer would be to look at other similar posts, or whatever someone's willing to pay, is it possible/sensible/plausible to have a section purely for valuations, possibly down with the for sale / wanted forums?

Thanks,

Dave

To be fair, any Mini is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, there is no easy way to generalise valuations.

But every time I see another "How much is it worth" topic I want to bash my head against a wall >_<

Perhaps we could have just one topic entitled "Valuations" or something, where people can post up pictures and spec to see how much their cars are worth. Rather than a new one every other day. That way kind helpful people can check up on that topic and give their 2 cents, and people who feel like self harming when they see so many threads on the same topic can just avoid that one thread, at all costs >_<

I also think a little research on the potential seller's part wouldn't go amiss, rather than just asking the forum?

I don't think it would work, most people who put valuation threads up are new members who dont look/think before they post.

But they could be moved to the correct forum?

The fact that it's people signing oto the forum to just flog a mini is also a bit annoying as they often don't check back anyway, also a problem with the for sale forum I admit.

so, if i asked what kind of oil to put in, then what that funny switch was, then how much would my mini be worth?! :)

but yeah really, it does make you want to chew your tongue. on another forum, you have to make a certain number of posts before you can sell stuff, I just find it really rude to sign up just to sell something.

I don't find it rude if someone signs up just to sell something. At least then it goes to one of the enthusiasts on here, rather than an anybody on eBay (with eBay taking their evil skim off the top).

As for valuation topics, yes they can get annoying, and yes it would be nice if everyone searched the for sale sections first, but I don't think we're ever going to get to a point where everyone searches for an answer before posting a topic.

Hows about a thread where people can post up pics and the price they sold their Mini for when they sell them on, that way there would be a bit of a guide to real-world prices?

Can you set the forum so that you can just delete the posts in question and have a pre-recorded PM sent to the 'offending' member explaining why and directing them to the guide?
