Hey

I've been looking on mini official site about plugging an ipod directly into the stereo, through the glove compartment, but i'm pretty sure this feature is not available in my car.

Whats the cheapest/easiest way i can play my ipod in my car, all my music is on my ipod.
Ive tried using an FM transmitter, where i plug it into the ipod, and tune into the frequency, but i can never get a good clean sound this way

Anyone have any ideas?

Persaly I get a new headunit that works with iPod, but I've no clue about BMW standard MINI ONE headunits!

FM transmitter to plug in to your Ipod. Sound quality might suffer slightly but no need to do any wiring.

harman kardon do quite a nice ipod interface, plugs into the aerial socket so you get a good, clean sound, and you mount the screen and remote wherever you like. the ipod then sits in the glove box.
or you can replace the headunit for an ipod compatible unit, probably the easiest, and best sounding option - especially if you go for something from Alpine or Pioneer. You'll probably need a facia adaptor and a wiring harness adaptor to go with it. Halfords do offer a free fitting service on certain units, so that might be the best plan if you're unsure about fitting.

oh and dribble, theres quite a few people on here that own MINI's, but mini2.com is much more helpful when it comes to new stuff.

if you want a cheap fix then buy an fm transmitter or buy a BMW mini HU from a dealer - the newer generation minis have an mp3 feature as an option. might be worth going to your local dealer and see what they suggest, then go to your local audio shop/specialist and see what they say. other than that i cant remember much more im afraid. best bet is probably mini2.com try this link http://www.mini2.com...m/interior-ice/ hope this helps, if you need any help then give me a pm. according to the site you will need at least a 3rd generation ipod, with a docking connector for MINI HATCH before 11/06 and MINI CONVERTable at least a 4th generation ipod with docing connector AFTER 11/06 and MINI CLUBMAN. NOT ALL VERSIONS ARE COMPATIBLE CONTACT YOUR DEALER FOR MORE INFO.

really best bet is try mini2 or contact your local dealer , mini 2 maybe the cheaper option

An ipod retrofit kit is good, i have fitted a few of them, and they are nice and neat with just a lead in the glovebox to plug the ipod into, but it is not a cheap option as the car will also probably need coding. So it would probably be cheaper to do what redhotmini says and buy aftermarket.

and aftermarket units will make the most of the very good factory fit speakers too, so it will sound much better overall.

Alpine do a good head unit that you can plug an ipod into, you can go tru all your tracks/artists ect on the head unit. goes in the same way as a normall head unit,

you might need a blanking plate for a bini to fit a head unit but apart from that its a doddle.

The higher end MINI's had H K systems and i'm sure there was a way of plugging into the back of the head unit with an ipod/mp3 player. it all depends on the spec of the head unit.
To Access the back of the head unit is a REAL nightmare.. that said, i was an on line rectifier and usually had 1min 45 seconds to rework any fault on a car with a bit longer it wouldn't be so hard me thinks.
