vauxhall astra 52 reg, when will it need a new cambelt, i reckon 40k, but mum says the book says 80k. i cant see it lasting 80k!
help!?
60k or 4 years springs to mind for some reason

For the cost of getting it changed vs mashed valves... worth it.

alot of rental/company car people complained about the drop and the incresed service costs at the time and a few hold out to 60k to help this.
Hope this helps i worked for a vauxhall dealer at one point

I'd say 60K if it was mine, but on some of the 8v Vauxhalls the valves don't even touch the pistons wehn the cambelts go (if it's on a standard camshaft) so it's all good! Run it til it snaps!

No, seriously, I'd ring your local Vauxhall garage, give them the car details, ask them when the cambelt is scheduled for change and they'll notify you of any changes to the cambelt/milage recommendations.

i wouldnt go longer than 4 years on a belt. my gf's 206 says 80k, but nuts to that i will get it done v soon (when i can twist uncles arm)

i would expect to do a cambelt 40-60k, 60k being top no more, do it soon kinda thing

I have a feeling yours is 80,000 but I will check this in my handbook tomorrow if I remember.
