I'd do it sooner rather than later, having been 6 years now.

For the cost of getting it changed vs mashed valves... worth it.

oringanly they where 80k but Vauxhall had a spate of them going before the desired mileage so the brought the interval down to 40k or 4years.

alot of rental/company car people complained about the drop and the incresed service costs at the time and a few hold out to 60k to help this.

Hope this helps i worked for a vauxhall dealer at one point

Depends what engine it is! :)

I'd say 60K if it was mine, but on some of the 8v Vauxhalls the valves don't even touch the pistons wehn the cambelts go (if it's on a standard camshaft) so it's all good! Run it til it snaps! :(

No, seriously, I'd ring your local Vauxhall garage, give them the car details, ask them when the cambelt is scheduled for change and they'll notify you of any changes to the cambelt/milage recommendations.

I've got an '02 astra, 1.6 sxi (16v) and mine is every 40,000.

I have a feeling yours is 80,000 but I will check this in my handbook tomorrow if I remember.

Just do it anyway, changing a timing belt on a C16SE is soooo easy it's unreal!

rung up our friendly local vauxhall dealer and they told us that the 16v engines have it done 60k, or is it 40k, because they were known for snapping or something (has been a few days since i rung!) but the 8v engine can run until 80k, thats when they advise it is done. i'll do it when it gets to 60k, cant afford it atm
