Just need a bit of advice on a few wires I need to go somewhere, and see if my starter solenoid is anywhere close?

Im unsuure on these wires first..

One thick pink/white one which is linked with a yellow and white one going to the coil? With me going from pre engaged to non, should it be staying like that? And where should this big pink and white one go?

Next I have a black and white thin wire with a spade connector.. any ideas?

My coil, from + I have one going to the + on the dizzy (electronic ignition) and the yellow and white one going to the starter motor. On - I only have one wire going to the dizzy..

On my starter motor, I have the furthest nut with the battery cable, and 2 brown wires to the alternator. The left of this is nothing. The right of this is the big brown and red wire from the loom. Assume this is right as its got a plug on the same size..

Middle left I have a light brown and white wire from the loom. Right I have a black and white wire from the loom. Finally on the bottom nut I have a battery cable going to the starter motor.

Can anyone please help link these together to get going? Plleeeease!

i know that the pink/white wire is a ballast wire for ballast ignition

It sounds like you have been changing a lot of stuff at once.

I am not 100% comfortable with how the wires go to the electronic ignition so others will have to chime in. However, the loose wires you've got are all associated with the coil wiring, not the starter solenoid. For starters (pun intended), the pink/white wire tied to the yellow/white wire should go to the coil (+) terminal of the coil on a car with points and a ballast ignition system. The pinkish wire IS the ballast resistor and its other end is connected to the ignition switch. The yellow/white wire is the bypass for the ballast wire. It's other end is connected to a switched terminal on the starter solenoid. When you are cranking the engine on the starter, the yellow/white wire carries battery voltage to the coil for a hotter spark. Once you release the ignition switch to the run position the coil gets its power from the pink/white wire which reduces the operating voltage of the coil.

The white/black wire is fitted between coil (-) and the side of a points-type distributor. It's the earth/ground connection wire to the points. There may be a second white/black wire on coil (-). This second wire would go off to the input for the tachometer (where fitted).

With the electronic ignition distributors I seem to remember that they do not require the ballast wire and therefore don't require the bypass wire. So the pink/white and yellow/white wires MAY not be needed if your coil is currently getting switched power from somewhere else. Likewise, if the electronic ignition module has the proper connection to coil (-) you should not need the white/black wire except if one is fitted for a tachometer.

Dan is the ignition man. Hopefully he'll read and respond to this thread.

by the way, thanks for posting nice clear pictures.
