Are you not going to overbore it then?
Well after some thought I think im going leave reboring, if I can get roughly 70'ish bhp out of a standard bore I'll be happy with that for this one. My next project will have a few more beans though

Onto the engine stripdown.
Stripped most of it down today, the heads stuck on at the moment and cant seem to free it with my usual method (wooden block and lump hammer) so ive put a thead on the techy section Click me!. Its ironic really, I was dreading getting the flywheel off, but it slid off no problem with the puller (know how to do them now Ive done a few
A quick look and things and its not in bad condition at all, considering its done 80k plus, there will be wear on some parts but thats to be expected, and its nothing a bit of machineing cant take care of.
Some pics.

Managed to get the head off after 2 hours of stuggling, with some help from my dad (extra pair of hands made it easier). Glad im going for a modified head as it needs new valves anyway, would probably clean up after a few hours work but I want bigger ones putting in anyway. Pistons look worse than they are, its just carbon build up and they clean up well. Looks like the crank will need a re-grind or polish aswell.
Just need to find out what marking are on 1275 pistons to indicate which is front (thread in techy section).
Some pics. (finding it hard to get my work area clean

Took the last 2 pistons out, cam, followers and crank. Plus a few other bits and bobs on the front of block (oil pressure switch, release valve etc) Put all the critical parts in clean boxes and the auxilary bits in a plastic tray. Left the big chunky stuff on the bench.
A series blocks are heavy!! ive never stripped an engine down this far before and couldn't believe the weight of the crank, will do some weight lifting with a few of them I think
Condition of the main shells dont look too bad, and again, the big end shells look fine but need to be replaced idealy. Cylinder bores look in good condition, no marks etc, so will be ok to just have them either de-glazed/honed. But I dont think I could of just dropped this engine into a car without a rebuild first.

Condition of the main bearing shells.

A bore.

Gearbox, will strip it down and it give it a service/cleanup.

Thought I'd post up a rough engine spec, nothing serious, just a more or less standard rebuild.
