well its been a while since i did anything at all with the mini (lousy british summer and working on a drive didnt help) so i talked nicely to santa at christmas and he brought me a present a whole 16' x 10' bundle of joy its great got my heater fitted and lights plus oodles of sockets and carpet (one of the only benefits of working for a carpet tile manufacturer, heaven in wood, ps the Z4 is my other toy

Posted Image

also managed to get the mini in and strip it completely and made a stand to work on it from

Posted Image

Posted Image

have cut the bulkhead section out as it was cut for a webber box but didnt like it either so plan to smooth the bulkhead and locate everything elswhere so it looks neet and tidy under there

Posted Image

Posted Image

and made a new bulkhead in sheet putting a small box in the middle for a carb to slot back into (handy having a box and pan folder at work

and started cleaning the inner wings down (why do they always rust behind the shock mounts

Posted Image

Posted Image

managed to get the front end clipped together with clamps but not happy with the panel fit (magnum panels ) wings and front panel gone together ok but look at the gap in the wing at the top of the curve it stands realy high compared to the bonnet (and ive tried two bonnets) not sure what to do here ( any suggestions anyone) please

so moved on to recon the front hubs ( new disks, ball joints, bearings, stainless pistons, and caliper seals) and then changed my mind and fancy 10" wheels so will be selling the calipers and getting the disks turned down to 7.9"

shall try and keep it a bit more up to date from now on

must admit i had a quick tidy round before taking pictures, have a nasty habit of picking a tool up and droping it on the spot. Handiest tool is the vacuum find any rust dropped in a hole and just vac it out its great. also changed my mind on the colour saw an awesome car at bingley the other week

the answer is smoke grey with a white roof group twos colour coded and 6x10 minilights that is the future

stll keeping going

started to stip the floor and sills down last week

so cut the sills off which revealed even more rust

wow its like swiss cheese so i went up to minisport on saturday morning and bought a complete wide floor £160 will save patchinmg and looks super tidy and shiny just need to drill out the old one

so moved onto the boot floor and rear panel i had already bought a rear valance as the old one had fog light brackets welded on and dont want them on

this was a different story great solid metal

Posted Image

Posted Image

now covered everything in kurust and will sand back and prime next week before i fit the new floor hopefully order some paint in afew weeks and start getting it sprayed up

how do most people sand down the interior paintwork and prep that for painting

thanks all

99p for bmw mini seats = BARGIN!

Nice fine, look forward to seeing you put the complete floor in.

Nice setup you seem to have, very tidy. Whats the plan with the front end?
