finally dropped my wheels off with Carl at Force Racing, top guy great workshop and my god does he make the sexiest wheels going.
recons should get them back in a few weeks so
called in at minispares harrogate (vat free week) and picked up some rubber for my new wheels

also picked up a full set of shocks

gaz fully lowered setup
once the shell goes away for spraying i will be building up the subframes

rose jointed tie rods Kad
Kad rear camber/toe brackets
Kad rear quadrants
not sure what brakes to get yet 7.9 alloy 4 pot, 7.9 alloy 4 pot vented, fiesta or Cooper s cant make up my mind.
also picked up my MK1 brightwork while there they do a complete kit which i didnt know about (mk1 morris full slat grill, moustache and whiskers for £110)

managed to get all the back end seam sealed

then a quick lick of rustoleum, purchased a 2.5 litre of rustoleum primer so going to give it a good rollering next week make it all nice

managed to get the fibreglass bootlid fitted and hinges fitted, will need a little fetling to look perfect

picked up a few flea bay parts over christmas too

and the luxury of being able to program my own ignition, a full megajolt kit, so tempted to plug it all in and fiddle but must do the bodywork first.

all complete with edis unit and trigger etc
and picked up my christmas present to myself, i have dreamed of these wheels for years and finally found who did the modifications
had a ride over to meet carl at force racing in leeds he does the sexiest mini parts available to man, well knowledged and good facilitys dropped off my exactions for modifying out to 7" wide
started like

then they are faced off and drilled and tapped all round

this allows the new rim outer to be bolted on

giving you a wheel that looks like this

still pinch myself how sexy they are
inner tubes arrived yesterday as well so hopefully get the stripped and painted this weekend and get the built up with the tyres
will try and update more regular as things move on

cant wait to get it in to spraying that will feel like a huge step for me.
mini mechanicals are second nature to me but bodywork is a whole new avenue. quite enjoyed the bodywork part, i think im a bit too ******* about rust if i find even surface rust ive been chopping it out and replacing it, think thats why its taken me so long.
back in the garage all this wekend so should have all the body welding done.
then im going to start prepping. leaving the final prep and spraying to the professionals though. darnt risk ballsing that bit up.
also managed to get a supercharger bypass valve of a bini cooper s today so have all my parts for the blow through conversion.
going to take the supercharger and alternator into work this week and machine some kind of coupling for the alternator to be driven off the supercharger waterpump drive.
more updates sunday

been a few changes in plan over the past 6 months which the photos may explain

Remember that tidy garage i used to have. hmmmm something when wrong. i may even end up spending the next 3 days cleaning the garage out.
and as you can tell yep im going turbo and i lopped off the front for a fibreglass one. will be rivited and not removable.
will update tommorow after i leave the garage. idealy want it to be ready for the bodywork people at the end of next week so i can send it for spraying.

what can i say, its been a while and a few big changes.
firstly lots of weight been shed. rear subframe binned in favour of a rear beam and coil overs

Notice that the car has been painted storm grey at this point, keep watching the wife has changed her mind

as i say she changed her mind, now grey/beige

front subframe finished off in final colours

also replaced the cant rail as im fitting a headlinner

bit of a problem with front coil over brackets still to address with the brace bars

BIG BIG BIG Day, first time outside on wheels in 4 years

gave me chance to clean the garage out a bit too and fit new carpet

managed to get the front end fitted up just to make sure Fibreglass front alignment is good

and garage looks a **** tip again

fitted the doors, back gaps look good but fronts will need welding strips in. N/S done but needs a little grinding back

replacing the lower dash rail as well, 10 points to the first right guess of whats going in the gap

mirrors purchased but need a few door holes welding up too

car sits well at the front ~(on wood)~

gaps looking sweet all round

doors lightened up nicely

turbo box ready

dont like my carb dip any more so will be covering with a stainless shroud

plenty still to do but getting there
