Will I Make The Riviera Run... 4 Weeks & Counting

I took her out today for a shakedown run, just to get a feel for her reliability before tacking the 340 mile drive down to Newquay next month. Everything seemed fine. She was a little bit rattly (the exhaust I've fitted needs repositioning and the interior needs finishing) but she didn't miss a beat on the drive across to Bolton this afternoon to see Duncan and his Clubby.
Then we decided to take them out for a spin - this was the first time I've driven in anything resembling a Mini-convoy in about 3 years. And a couple of miles into the journey it started missfiring and cutting out.
Needless to say, this hasn't filled me with confidence for the Riviera Run. Hopefully it will be something really simple and easy to find and fix. But I'm starting to reconsider taking the Mini to Newquay, and consider going down in my diesel Ibiza. I really, really don't want to resort to this, as it will be the 3rd time I've been to the Riviera Run in a non-Mini.
Is anybody else in a similar situation?

Sure yours will be fine, have you checked out all your ignition components and checked the points gap etc?

I'm looking into extra recovery now. Tesco Recovery is cheapest and most comprehensive, but won't cover cars over 16 years old. Looks like I'll be joining the AA.

Yeah I got more of a job than you but am sure we'll both get down to the run....
But you're probably not a complete moron what it comes to anything mechanical... I, however, am!
I'm opting for Aldon elecy ignition. £90 from Mini Sport or £65 from Aldon online. Hmmm, that £25 saving is a lot of beer tokens for Newquay, or even 2/3 of an AA membership!
Good luck with yours mate, hope its all sorted (both of ours, for that matter) for May.

Might as well use this space to brag about my distributor splash guard, made from a Nike shoe box lid covered in a Tesco carrierbag. Blingedy bling bling!

Is it your plan to have it ready for Newquay? And do you think you will?
You're all making my missfire seem a bit trivial!
