I have seemed to have some electrical probs and have dones extensive searching but not sourced the problem.
My wipers, indicators and rear fog light do not work but the everything else does.
The fog light switch light comes on but no light at the back.
The indicators dont work but hazards do and the wipers dont work either.
I have checked fuses (inline) but cant seem to find which one the fog light is on.
I will be checking the back of the fuse box to see if is earthing properly i was just wondering what/where else can i check.
Also engine turns over but not spark i assume these are unrelated??
Thanks

Assuming you have a Mini of 1976-1996 vintage: -
Standard 4 fuse box mounted on the bulkhead: -
1 1-2 35amp Brake Lights, Reverse Lights, Direction Indicators & Rear Screen Demister.
2 3-4 25amp Horn, Headlamp Flasher, Brake Failure Circuit & Radio Memory.
3 5-6 25amp Heater Blower Motor, Windscreen Wipers, Washer Motor & Instruments.
4 7-8 15amp Side & Tail Lights & Panel Lights.
1-2 These circuits only operate with the ignition switch at position "II".
5-6 These circuits only operate with the ignition switch at position "I" or "II".
4 Fuse box wiring colours: -
White - Green
Brown - Purple
Light Green/White - Light Green/Orange
Red - Red/Green
In-Line Fuses situated behind air-filter on the bulkhead: -
15amp - Purple/Orange Wire
Hazard Warning & Interior Lamps
15amp - Brown/Orange Wire
Dim-Dip Lighting
10amp - Blue/Orange Wire
Rear Fog Guard Lamps
15amp - Blue/Red Wire
Auxiliary Cooling Fan (where fitted)
If the fog lamp switch lights up, but the lamp bulb doesn't, then it'd be worth checking the actual bulb itself. They tend to only work when the ignition and dipped lights are on anyway.

Oh and the indicators sometimes don't work because the hazard warning light switch can overide them even when it's switched off. Or the indicator flasher unit itself is knackered?
But it'd be worth checking that fuse box, because I replaced mine lately and I couldn't believe the difference it made as my old one was very rusty on the back.

Taffy,
That's a really useful bit of info there, it's like spaghetti junction under the bonnet. could that info be pinned?

Very useful but its is all in the Haynes for everybodys viewing. If you dont have a Haynes then you need to get one!

Ive ordered the fuse box and a couple of other bits from mini spares today, so ill have it by the week end
im loving the 5% discount for TMF people

Well I got the in-line fuse rating colours from my own Mini handbook because I don't think their provided in the actual Haynes manual.
Anyway give the rear of the new fuse box a coating of Vaseline, because it won't then rust out anytime soon. Don't use copper grease though as that could cause a short.
