For a straight swap you wold need to find one with the same speedo cable connection and the same "turns per mile" (TPM) figure which is usually printed on the face somewhere.

Without being able to look closely at possible suspects then it is difficult to say if one will or won't fit

thanks for the advice Graeme

could i use the speedo in the link ? i dont mind about changing cables or anything because the car is undergoing a full restoration anyway. Would it be accurate ? especially with 13 inch wheels or are speedos never accurate with 13 inch wheels ?

thanks

Look at the face of your Inno gauge near the odometer window. If the speedo is metric you should find a 3 digit number that is the Turns/Kilometer value (TPK, similar to the TPM number Graeme mentioned). If you want the equivalent MPH speedometer, take the TPK value and divide by 0.621. For example, a common Mini metric speedo will have a TPK number of 800. 800/.621 = 1288. This crosses over to the standard MPH speedo with 1280 turns/mile.

MGB and Midget speedometers were available in 4" and 3.5" case sizes depending on the age of the vehicle with the larger gauges used in the early cars. IF you find a TPM or TPK number of 1280 or 800 respectively on your Inno speedometer, you will be able to find a similar MGB or Midget gauge. The picture in the link shows a TPM value of 1080 and I'm not familiar with any Mini speedo calibrated that way.

IF you are lucky and find that the 1280 TPM ratio is what you want, keep watching ebay and one will surely turn up. They were common on the MGBs without overdrive. When you buy the gauge you will also need to buy a new speedo cable. It is my understanding that the Inno used a different thread on the speedo end of the speedo cable. If you can't find a Mini speedo cable that will reach, contact Speedy Cables as suggested above. I'm sure they will be able to make a cable to your specifications.

Guesswork's speedometer certainly looks like it would work as long as the TPM numbers match. The only advantage to an MGB or Midget speedo over the one posted above would be the addition of the trip meter... assuming you can route the reset knob/cable for the MG one where you can access it.

Were I you, I'd take a piece of small plastic tubing, route it from the gearbox to the back of the speedometer and mark on it the total length you need. Measure that length and compare to the "screw on" Mini speedo cables. I know there are two lengths of cables for the center binnacle cars... I'm not sure about what cables there are for those Minis with gauges positioned in front of the driver.

The most common Smiths cables (as used on early Minis, MGs and Triumphs) have an M19x1 threaded nut for the gearbox end, and an M12x1 threaded nut for the speedometer end. Once you know the length of cable you need you'll quickly know if one of the standard Mini cables will fit. If you need a non-standard cable you MAY find that something close is available for other British cars. Speedy Cables should be able to tell you if there is a cable close to the length you need and if not... they can take a longer one and shorten it for you.
