Hi all,

Does anyone have a trick to getting the C**p out of the bottom of a gas tank? With the lip at the mouth of the tank I can't just tip it out, and its near on impossible to shake it out!

I'm sure there must be a sneaky trick for this...

You could try pouring a bit more petrol (gas) in, and keep trying to flush it out that way...or if you've an old vacuum cleaner with a long nozzle or can make a nozzle up, suck the cr@p out

Don't use a vacuum cleaner it will explode! I f you fill the tank a bit then shake the tank to create a vortex while turning it upside down it should get
the muck out

If the tanks empty and dry then shouldn't be any risk of it causing a vacuum cleaner to explode, petrol fumes will have evaporated off...If you want to play real safe pour some dry sand in, give it a good shake, probably not a bad idea anyway, the sand will act as an abrasive and remove any debris that might be stuck to the tank walls.

Will the debris float? If it will can't you just fill it with water till it overflows? the debris would flow out with the water.

Cheers for the ideas guys, I'll probably give the 'vortex' idea ago haha

Yeah I did think about filling it with water and floating it out, but I think its mostly 33 years of random petrol sediment so I doubt it floats. Has anyone seen that National Geographic ad where the monkey gets the peanut out of the tube by spitting water in to float it to the surface? Its genius :withstupid:
