Hi

I have noticed that I have no Indicators, either on hazard or on stalk, no brake lights, the heater for the back window does not work either.

Now i believe these will all be on the same circuit..... so i checked the fuses in the 4 type fuse box, there fine, checked the connections and renewed them all just in case, there now fine.

Then i took my airbox off, checked the inline fuses, im not sure what those fuses do... but there fine.

Im stuck for ideas, could it be a corroded wire?? if so how do i figure our which one.

Any ideas welcome, otherwise come monday i've got him booked into a garage. (friend so get discount) its just I want it over the weekend.

Thanks in advance

Kev

I'm pretty sure the hazards are not on same circuit, these are on circuit with horn & something else I cant remember :s so taht they work without the key turned.

If everything at rear has packed up suggests that there is a problem with the part of the loom that goes to the rear of the car, check for chaffing where it goes up windscreen pillar etc. Also I may be wrong but I seem to remember that there is at least one earth in boot, that might be corroded ?

Depending on whether your Mini is of 1976-1996 vintage: -

Standard 4 fuse box mounted on the bulkhead: -

1 1-2 35amp Brake Lights, Reverse Lights, Direction Indicators & Rear Screen Demister.

2 3-4 25amp Horn, Headlamp Flasher, Brake Failure Circuit & Radio Memory.

3 5-6 25amp Heater Blower Motor, Windscreen Wipers, Washer Motor & Instruments.

4 7-8 15amp Side & Tail Lights & Panel Lights.

1-2 These circuits only operate with the ignition switch at position "II".

5-6 These circuits only operate with the ignition switch at position "I" or "II".

4 Fuse box wiring colours: -

White - Green
Brown - Purple
Light Green/White - Light Green/Orange
Red - Red/Green

I have double checked the,

1 1-2 35amp Brake Lights, Reverse Lights, Direction Indicators & Rear Screen Demister.

And this fuse and connections are fine, they have new connections and the fuse is in place.

EDIT:

The horn is working as is the headlamp flasher along with the brake failure light. just the Hazards aren't.

Your right, the hazards are on a different circuit.

Daft question, could it be a bulb so therefore not completing the circuit?

Shouldn't be a bulb as they are all wired in parallel so that if one fails the rest still work. As you've had a "block" of things stop working together it suggests a fuse, a poor earth or a broken or loose connection. If these have all been thouroughly checked I'm scratching my head :shifty: I'll need to have a look at the wiring diagrams when I get home tonight before I can offer any more help I'm afraid :teehee:

I have just been and checked the earths that i can see, they seem to be fine - it has got to be what i first thought a fault in the wire somewhere - im not skilled enough to trace or change that :shifty:

Thanks, i have taken a look at the wirin diagram and it confuses me far to much. lol

Sorry to keep posting, but all sorted now  :mrcool::P :) :) :shifty: :P :teehee:
After a trip to Halfrauds for 2 packs of glass fuses, and after I replaced all fuses for new regardless if ok or not, emery clothed all connections, and put new spade connections on, they are all working as they should do, so im a happy boy.

The quoted post above, has been one of the most helpful posts i've seen on here I think someone should pin it in a seperate post. The only thing that needs adding to it is the in line fuses, colours, etc, etc.

Thanks for everyones help, im so glad it is sorted. Gonna treat him to a wash and clay bar tomorrow, and if he is lucky i might grease his nipples :P . Lol

Kev

15amp - Brown/Orange Wire
Dim-Dip Lighting

10amp - Blue/Orange Wire

15amp - Blue/Red Wire
