Yesterday, we got brush on seamsealer and sealed up around the inner arch in the boot to cover the welds....but it seems as is the seam sealer is reacting to the primer..or vice versa. Also checked an hour or so later and the seamsealer is drying out and cracking.....whats wrong ? :P was looking good till we put the seamsealer on...now it looks messy

I primed it and left it for a couple days and then sealed it.

Was it "Tetrosyl"? Have had exactly the same problems, although it only occurred in certain areas.

Absolutely no reason for it. Everything prepared the same. Was applied over fully dried "tetrosyl" etch primer.

Had similar problems with "tetrosyl" stonechip. Cracking and crazing over the whole area, but moreso over the seam sealer.

It was enough to make me ditch tetrosyl products completely, and never use them again.

What kind of primer did you use? If it wasn't a 2 pack and the seam sealer is slightly aggressive then it will dissolve the primer. Cracking? How thick did you apply it? 3M's sealer can crack but that if you apply a really thick layer... A seam sealer will shrink, when the VOC is gone. Hence if it's very thick it will crack.. It can also be a very low quality sealer with lots of VOC and no content, i.e. be more likely to shrink a lot and also dissolve the primer.

Cheers Dyna

PS: It's basically down to either not using the right stuff or using the right stuff but having the combo wrong...
