Hi Folks
I'm new on here even though I have been a member quite a while.
My fiancee owns the mini we have a 1.3i 1996 vintage 35000, just... the other vehicle a Land rover disco that's mine, but that's another story!!!!

The problem we are having and hopefully someone can help with is that we have poor running below 2000 revs when the engine is warm. When just started from cold until warm no problems, you can take your foot off the gas and let the car slow down no problem, or it will run lovely and smooth when in traffic, but when it has warmed through it will not run cleanly at all. In traffic you often have to slip the clutch to get the revs up in first so that it doesn't jerk and hiccup as it were when running slow. And when you take your foot off the gas and let it slow down especially below 2000 revs it jerks as though the fuel is being turned on/off quickly.

It been serviced, air-filter changed, new plugs correct grade. Its even been to a mini specialist here in Galway Ireland who has gone through the injection system when the RC30 was fitted. It ran poorly before this so its not the exhaust. He spent a lot of time trying to get the emissions down to a reasonable level...

I have checked all connections under the bonnet, all levels, listened for any air leaks etc in the area of the intake...

Has anyone experienced this at all or something similar? I've heard stories about poor ECU's that rover produced for the MPi... Could this be the problem. Or could it be something more mundane?
I would like to get this sorted as my fiancee has to start using the car soon for getting too and from work and its not something she is happy with.

So any suggestions please!!!!

Thank folks >_<

Have you tried changing the DIS unit (ignition coil/dizzy) to see if that makes a difference?

Actually on more thought it could be to do with the temp sending for the auto choke. If the temperatures not getting thru that the engines warmed up, then the ecu will still be pumping more fuel in to try and warm the lump. On a side note, does your rad fan come on much?

Yes now it's mentioned the fan does seem to be coming on far too much, how ever long or short the run the fan always seam's to be on at the end of the run.
Have been browsing through the topics here and will be checking the temp sensor connections tomorrow, any other suggestions would be appreciated too....
