To be honest I dont really know all that much with ice so youll just have to bare with me.
At the moment ive got a JVC 45x4 head unit, 4 300w Sony Xplode 6x9s and a 250w sony amp. Im gunna get a sony 10inch sub but not a lot more as I dont really want to add a lot more weight. My friends cant beleive how good my 6x9s sound on the parcel shelf(Ive only got two connected at the moment). They recon they seem louder cause of the boot amplifying it but I dont really know.
Thing is I like how simple my JVC is to use so I dont really want to change it but apparently I cant use an amp as there no outputs for it.
Is there any other way of wiring it in without the outputs?
Any help will be smashing as I dont have a clue when it comes to these things.
Cheers people :smartass:

Your better off getting a converter to make the Speaker outputs into "Pre outs" Because it sounds naff using the "High" inputs on the amp, It whistles and stuff when you rev the engine.
If your 6X9s are on the rear shelf, your best bet would be to get a sheet of MDF / Ply wood and use the parcel shelf liner as a template to make a wooden parcel shelf, Put this on the origional parcel shelf as Wood is a better surface for a speaker as opposed to the metal shelf.
I have some Cheapo 6X9s in the rear and some Pioneer 4" Speakers on the dash all running direct from me head unit, No amps. TO be honnest, I dont want an amp, the Head unit is big enough as a Mini is a small car and dosent need some super banging sound system.
I also have a 12" sub in the boot running off a little 100watt amp. Not exactly huge, but its loud enough for me.

Im after a 10" sub. as the 12" is a little too big for my likeing.

oh, the reason why the 6x9's sound loud is because of the boot acting like an enclosure
a few people have mentioned this destroys the coils in the speakers, but i have never come across this
give it a try

My friend just gave me a connection with four prongs which insert into the amp. He said that I should connect the two positive and negative wires to it and it will then give me the input I need... I think

Is this the part you were on about Philster?
I dont want to add loads of weight to the car so im just gunna carpet the rear parcel shelf. Hopfully this might just be loud enough to be heard above the straight cut drops

Favourite prodigy tune for the overall sound has gotta be deisel power (fat of the land) and a real good test of your systems ability has got to be breathe (also fat of the land) if it can play that loud and clear it can play anything!
