Thanks for the advice yesterday about removing my rad - it's off now (think i need to junk my haynes manual)

Anyway, according to the book i should have a block drain plug about half way up the block at the back. However all i have is a large rectangular plate which is sealed to the block and i don't really want to disturb it.I deffinately don't have a plug. It's a 78 auto.I need to get all the water out as it's full of oil from when my head gasket went and i can't flush it with a hose because the head is off,

please help...

Ade.

If you've got the rad out, the block is drained. The water pump is pretty much at the lowest point in the water jacket, once you remove the bottom hose or the rad from the end of it there is nothing to hold the water in. As said above, once the car is re-built flush the oil and coolant. Run the car on oil and a can of oil flush for 15 minutes and then change the oil and filter again, add coolant flush to the rad and change the coolant again in a week.
