Me Again !
Managed to get car started yesterday. Unfortunately a belt snapped on the front right hand side of engine. I have been told that this is the fan belt.

Firstly could a muffin head like me change a fan belt with no mechanical knowledge and only a bob the builder tool set!

Secondly there appear to be two types of fan belt available. The one that I have broken has grooves all around it and is a unipart part. When I look to order over the net some have teeth as oposed to the grooves. Are they better?

Does anyone know if cooper si conversion changed the belt from the standard spec at all?

Thanks in advance
Sally

Think that I need to buy a haynes. Problem is that I went to Halfords, fortunately took old belt with me and one that they suggested was totally different! Have ordered one suggested in thread above. Guess will have to be patient.
