I have looked everywhere for an alloy inlet manifold, preferrably water heated, for an 850 HS2 (1 1/4) Mini, they're not advertised on the sites, does anyone know if they're in production? I doubt there's much call for them, as the majority of people have 998's.

I can only find twin HS2 inlets, but dont want the hassle of twin carbs.

Tom :D

Not sure they exist. Let me check my big book. If you get very stuck though, give me a shout and I'll set a HS4 manifold up for Hs2. I think I can do it.

Edit,

Quick flick via the Big Yellow Bible shows nothing on the Hs2 front. You could cut down a regular Hs2 manifold to fit but I'm going with their a bit rare now.

I'd go with see if you can borrow a Hs4 manifold and mesure up then drill and tap. Which is pretty much my idea. :D

nope there is no such thing. old skool way to do it is remove the original cast one from the exhaust manifold, if you want to upgrade to a freeflow exhaust manifold.

Alternatively upgrade to an HS4 carb and then the world is almost your oyster so to speak.

My carb currently leaks petrol, at quite a fast rate! Down the shaft, and drips off the bottom of that, its always wet when I touch it :D

I shall be upgrading to a Cooper Freeflow exhaust, should i also get a HS4 carb then? Is it a straight swap?

Please be as cost effective as possible!

My Carb is a FZX 1142. My 850 is one of the last of the 850's produced as they began production of the 998's. According to internet sources, (Burlen and Somerford) I might have a HS4 Carb 1.5" on my mini!

Is this possible?

...Yup its a HS4! :teehee: Had me fooled! Okay so now I can buy a freeflow and alloy water heated inlet manifold :D Anyone selling either / or??

Where the carb mounts to the inlet the two studs will be vertical if HS2, Diagonal if it`s HS4

Looks like a HS4. The HS2 carbs have a longer throat on the carb bell.

Picture taken just before I fitted my new choke cable:

As you can see from the pic, it leaks petrol down the shaft and onto the body :D

buy a service kit for the crab from http://www.burlen.co.uk or minispares to get the discount but i am not sure which will work out cheaper. i have a maniflow freeflow manifold but postage might be a killer.
