Just got the african inheritance email and the mailing list appears to be made up of Miniforum members... is it possible for someone to get all of our emails that easily??

Oh sorry forgot to mention they can get it from anywhere like purchasing stuff via the internet

For instance if you don't uncheck a box from lets say amazon that says "do you wish to recieve newsletters" or "do you wish to be notified by amazon and its partners" or something similar to that effect they take your interests and pass that on to other companies who inturn give amazon a nice cash sum for them giving your e-mail this is more common with hotmail as when you sign up there are a load of options that you can check to recieve notifications from lastminute.com and so on and so forth.

Whatever you do DON'T click on links in e-mails they will more often than not contain trojans and all sorts of other nasties

Sorry that sounded patronising but its just to pre-worn you, you can spend ages clearing the swines up oh and this will also apply to attachments too!

The problem probably is that someone (a TMF member) used all those emails on the msn topic to create a contacts file for Messenger, trying to make it easy for other TMF members to add all those people on that list. Unfortunately they hosted it on their own site (because they couldn't upload that particular file extension to TMF), and thats when it got copied and downloaded by many other people. Also unfortunately its not something we can do anything about.
