hey boys i been looking at the supercharger kits for the mini and was wondering if i could fit one to the 998??

which carb would i need to run off the supercharger the website kits say hi44 but when i research the carb it says that carb is best ran on a 1275 engine onwards???

has anyone done a 998 supercharger and was it easy to fit??

cheers

Generally an 1-3/4" SU is considered to large for a 998 with the amount of power they make, a 1-1/2" is the norm, but with a supercharger fitted & the associated increase in power i would run the HIF44.

Erm alot of people said the jonspeed kit is pretty poo! But i have no personal preference and cannot personally comment.
However there is alot of people who say the vmax kit is pretty good!
You could use the 12g295 head and as for ignition, megajolt would be a pretty option so I'm told

I have been doing a bit of research myself on this as I am thinking of this route and that is what I have found so far
But I have yet to find would running an eaton m45 charger reduce reliability as mine is my daily driver!

Depends how much money you have to burn...

To put on a bigger head from a 1275, you will need to pocket the block which requires taking the engine out and taking it apart to do it properly, and then as it's out you might as well fit a new cam etc. and it will all become very expensive. As a guide I did this with my 1275 and I have spent over £4000 and the engine is still not finished.

so the only way of pocketing a engine is to drop it i dint rally want to drop the engine as my wireing is stupidly rubbish haha

wont the standard 998head work with the gasket v max supply with it??

have you supercharged your engine there is someone on the forum with a 998 supercharged what did they use??

cheers

I have pocketed a block without removing the engine, although it's not ideal. I thoroughly blocked off the bores and holes with oily rags and duck tape.

I have had a look on the Jonspeed site and the kit does cater for 998's. I dont see why it should be poo, they have out a lot of work into it to make it marketable and it uses the eaton supercharger. If you can get a 60% Bhp increase then it sounds good to me.

dont buy the jonspeed kit, do you have a lathe and milling machine avaliable?

hif44 is the carb you want

its going to be stupidly fast, it will eat the first clutch you put it because you dont expect it to be that powerful

go to the gym aswell....

Isnt this the point of modifying things......to make them go better plus you know it one thing works better something else will want uprating, brakes, clutch etc.

Why do you need a lathe?

I don't see why you think a supercharger will be more reliable than a turbo?

Adding extra bits and power to your engine isn't exactly going to improve reliability is it?
