Bought a new LCB for my SPI cooper as the the old one had cracked.

Come to fit the new one today and it don't fit. Am not happy!! Was hoping to get the min back on the road today in time for Himley. I get very little time to work on the old girl so upsets like this are not welcome.

No chance of getting another one today and next weekend we're busy and am too kn*ckered when I get hjome from work to do much in the evenings.

This is an LCB for an injection as it has the lambda probe boss, but it sticks out too far from the head and clashes with the water pipe under the inlet manifold.

Are there different LCB's for the SPI and MPI? Could it be that I was sold an MPI one?

Anybody know where I can get a new LCB in nottingham on a Saturday afternoon!!!!

Yes - have tried that but it's Saturday afternoon. Can't blame em for not wanting to be at work 24/7 - just my luck that I didn't try to fit the thing till now. I bought it weeks ago - bugger!!!

i had this exact same problem, the problem was that the center tube was for a carb'd mini and indeed did foul, rang them up and they sent the correct part out, anyway the fit still was rubbish,so bit the bullet and got an injection maniflow lcb, fits like a glove

Well - not to give up I thought that I would make it fit - always up for a challenge!!

So I cuts the water pipe off the inlet manifold. Plan was to blank that and use one of the other blank points to get the water flow.

Still fouled but not as bad. Filed some aluminium off the inlet manifold and dressed the centre branch with a ball pein hammer. After many off and on's I manage to get the bl**dy thing to fit.

Get underneath the car - the ends of the two branches are tight up against each other and nearly an inch different in length.

Even if I cut the long one the fact that they are so hard up against each means I will have to force them apart to get the y piece on = high stress = it will crack.

I reckon the whole thing is a carb version with a boss added to take a lambda probe. A different centre branch wouldn't have passed between the Y branch and the coolant pipe the passes under the inlet manifold. In fact I tried the old centre branch because that was OK - it fouled the y branch.

So that was a waste of an afternoon.

Now I've got to fix my inlet manifold (anyone got a decent spare going cheap?) and get me a decent exhaust manifold.

Anybody doing good deals on QUALITY LCB's - not cheap chinese copies which is obviously what I bought.

Grasshopper says:- buy cheap and you will pay the price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
