hey i was wandering if anyone can help me?
i read earlier that using some ducting pipe to the carb would help the performance. if i was to do the i'd need a air filter on the front wouldnt i? but would i need a second filter on the carb or could the ducting go straight onto the carb?

I'm pretty sure your engine is better off if it uses the standard air feed, unless it is a newer car. When i took my warm air feed off it coked up the engine turned the spark plugs black in about 2 days.
Not totally sure tho where are the experts when you need them?

You only need one filter as long as it's a sealed system from beginning to end, and it's best placed at the front of the pipe.. ( ps called ram charging )

But a very simple mod is, using the standard box filter ( with filter in ) remove the pressed metal thing off the end, and take a piece of ducting from the filter to the front of the car.

but you could remove the lot and pipe directly into the back of the carb... suggest you read Vizards bible.... :cheese:

do like kn do with the injection cars. fit a cone filter to the carb, and then run a ducting pipe from the grill to near the filter (about a 5cm gap is needed) this way you will get a good supply od cold air at speed, but you wont have the ram effect, as this only works well in injection cars where the fueling can be increased to compensate for the extra air being forced in at speed. also this way it helps keep the back of the engine bay cooler.

With a K&N type cone couldn't you keep the hot air duct and have a cold air feed?
Then you'd have warm air when it's warming up but nice cool air when you're moving!
Just a thought. Am I wrong?

you've got nowhere to fit the warm air feed.

why do you need a warm air feed?... the thing thats on a little bent piece of metal that bobs up and down with a pipe going to the exhaust manifold?
