I've done a product review on both the Wipac Quadoptics and the Lucas P700s. I found both were great value for money, not sure if the Lucas are worth ~£30 more than the Wipacs, I guess time would tell to see if they are that much better built. The Lucas lamps were definitely the brighter of the two sets, and they seemed a fair bit better built, though thats not to say the Wipacs were poorly built. For instance, the Wipacs had a plastice sidelight bulb holder, which is obviously cheaper to make, and I can only imagine that cracking at some stage, but then the metal sidelight holder of the Lucas could well rust away after a few years...

Probably not too helpful, but I think I'd probably go with the Lucas lights if I was to buy using my own cash. They are the brighter of the two, and I do think they'll last longer, and I also believe that you get what you pay for.

Wipac Freeforms and Halfrauds Brilliance bulbs was my choice.

Freeforms are really good looking units and seemed to be well made.

Brightness was very good indeed.

I ordered some of these a couple of days ago after not being able to tell if my lights were on when it was hammering down the other day and reading the best headlights thread. got the email today saying they are being sent so should get them in next couple of days. my bulbs have already come, got some of those philips vision plus ones and they sent me some blue sidelight bulbs for free. will post some results after i fit them

You wont be disappointed.

The only git with them is keeping the wires connected to the sidelight bulb during fitting, I found they kept coming off whilst I was fighting with the tensioning spring.

yeah i was looking at it today to see if anything needs modifying or if they just go in. do you just have to take the little sidelight housing off then put the wires in where the sidelight bulb would go. didnt have much time to look at it, it started raining about 2 seconds after I took the bulb out

There is a guide on here within one of the posts.

Basically the existing 3 pin connector attached to the back of the old sealed beam unit will go straight on the back of your new bulbs, and they obviously then clip into the new headlight unit. The side light wires will need to be cut off from the 3 pin connector and you will need to crimp some female connectors on the ends. These connectors will then slide straight on the male ended wires coming from the new units sidelight bulb holder.

You also will need to buy some sidelight bulbs as these dont come with the headlight units.

Hope this helps.

free forms came today. fitted them this afternoon, didn't understand what you meant by the sidelights being a git until I had put them both in then came to test and one wasn't on and realised it had pushed out while fitting. not really dark enough yet but first test and the sidelights alone seem brighter than what my full beams were before
