Hi,
I was driving along the other day, when my windscreen wipers decided to come on all on their own, and no matter what position the stalk was in they wouldn't go off, I disconnected them so I could continue my journey (luckily it wasn't raining).
The next day I took the stalk off, checked the connections and spring, put it back together and it worked again.
The day after the same thing happened, so I borrowed a friends wiper stalk, connected it up and the same thing; it wouldn't stop. So it's not the stalk.
I have checked the wiring and earths and all appears fine, the only thing I can think of is the wiper parking switch behind the wiper motor needs replacing, but would this cause the wipers to be on constantly? Or am I missing something?
Thanks for your time,
James.

It will be the park switch.
Remove the switch and tinker with the plunger or remove the light green/orange wire from the motor's connector.

Thanks for your reply, I think I'll buy a new switch, they're only £11.00 and if it'll stop it happening again, it's worth it.

its worth whipping the cover off the wiper motor and checking every thing is ok in there, I had the same fault and it was due to the circlip that holds the cog in place on the back of the wiper motor poping of and allowong the cog to ride up and not press the park switch properly.

mined was the other way round. ... would stop anywhere.
on intermittant. nothing wrong with the storks.
found the problem being the park switch. water got in it and soon shorted out.
