1. Turbo probly be faster.
2. N/A would be more reliable.
3. Depends what you have done, but N/A would probly be cheaper too.

Do you want a head doing? :D

Ps. Good luck driving a dog 'box in an everyday car! You'll soon regret it...

It all depends on how you want to drive. Id personally go for the MED N/A 1380 as these are well built engines and will be a joy to use as the power will always be there unless you put a lairy cam in it. However if you want something that will be a bit lairy to drive(turbo lag) and give you a bit of a brute to drive(torque steer) Id go for the turbo.

Both are very good engines and they can both be very reliable if built to the correct specs and tolorances so its completly up to you. The turbo will always offer you the chance to up the boost to increase the power but Ive seen people get carried away and itll only then start getting unreliable.

If you want power & 0-60 it doesnt matter what option you choose really just make sure you put a crazily short final drive in it, use a 3.9:1 or a 4.1:1 and you`ll top out at around 100(+/- depending on what revs you can pull) but get there quicker than most and your 1/4 mile time & 0-60 time will b ace. you`ll get into the 6. somethings secs with anything over about 100@wheels with this kind of gearing. you`ll just sacrifice top end, but your aerodynamics r shockin anyway because its a mini so! because A-series r such a small cc engines you have to have one or the other really.

You got that diff in yet Duds? Still ent fit my own gearbox yet so Im still gunna be wacking the 3.6 in it. Your right with this thread though mate. The gearings the most important thing in terms of 1/4 mile sprints and of the mark starts.

The dog 'box doesn't have synchromesh, just dog engagement. Its ok on the race track where your trashing the pants off it and engine speeds are always high, but driving around town will be a nightmare.

welcome back!

sticking a busa engine in teh mini will be awsome but i would expect it to loose some of its ledgendary handling caractoristics, mid mounted engine, RWD, and its realy expensive

I think Marksmini has a "dog leg boxer".... :cheese:

It's a "Dog Box" named after the dog gears which are like little teeth ( nothing to do with legs ) and as blue says, absolutely no use for the road...

If you have the pennies, get MED to build you a SCCR 4 speed competition box with some SC drops and get it all shimmed up by them, as duds says, a nice short 3.6 or higher diff will give you quick acceration at the expense of top end, but when you have that sort of engine, no-one should be worried about cruising speed...ooh, and a X-Pin diff

I could envisage a total spend in excess of 2500... for engine, head and gearbox....
