I have... but not on a mini.

the nature of a turbo means that it must be within the exhaust and induction systems... it would be possible to move it infront but you would need to route all the manifolds around the engine, then back round for the exhaust so it would be a dogs dinner.

Superchargers are belt driven and can be placed pretty much anywhere where you can get a pulley onto something that rotates with the engine.

Check out the new Mini Mag with the Mini Williams on the front cover, there is a Black Janspeed converted mini in there, which has the turbo over the clutch.

wow that looks complicated lol i would like the turbo coming out of the bonnet either behind the engine and i cut a hole for it to come out or where the janspeed is and have it higher so the turbos air filter comes out thought it would be good idea for cooling and also air supply has anyone got any plans or any pictures of how the manifolds should all go on the basic janspeed?

I guess it's not for the road then!

Over the clutch is fairly popular as it avoids cutting the body, cools better, and makes routing an intercooler more easy. It's a good idea to keep the pipework short to avoid lag.

I've read of one bolted to the rear subframe somewhere :shifty:

The idea of the turbo in place of a muffler was commonly used in small pickup trucks in the US, perhaps to make them sleepers and something to do with cooling as well. I'll see if i can find any pictures. It was very popular around 2002 or so.

I think the lenght of the piping all the way back to the rear subframe will bring tons of lag, so you'll need to have a nice engine for the low rpms
