Hey all!
Just a quick hello (again), and to mention that we picked up our Monte Carlo Cooper this morning! I'll post some pics shortly!
Only a couple of niggles with the car at the moment...the 4 front spots aren't working, so need to try and locate the fuse / cables for them. The driver window is really stiff to wind up. Also, and more importantly, we can't lock the boot! The seller said it's locked fine before, but we can't get it to. Is there a knack to it, or could something have broken? I'm using the same keys as the doors, which fit, but don't seem to want to turn the barrel. Any ideas would be great!
Cheers all!
PS - Modding bug has started already...think I'll be replacing the flimsy window winders and door pulls etc with metal ones, first!

Hi..and welcome to TMF and first your boot kock should have a different keyto door lock. you need to remove latch on boot than undo 2 bolts and 2 pozi screws securing lock than take plastic boot off and give lock a wash with a wire brush in deisal to remove dirt, dry with a colth than scrape some pencil lead on to a piece of paper and using a small nail to open lock barrel pour grafite into lock barrel than push key in and out several times to work grafite inot lock than try to turn key to see if it locks.....................good luck
second you will have to remove door handle and window winder, remove door pocket than remove door card, refit window winder and remove 4 pozi screws securing winder mechanism to door than prize away from door get someone to hold glass and wind mechanism tillyou see channels and check for rust if ok grease channels and refit, if rusty replace....good luck..........................

Cheers for the info mk1leg!
The user manual says the boot key is the same as the door keys - will check with the previous owner though.
Thanks for the tips - will check them out soon!

Unfortunately, the car doesn't have a full service history either. I'm thinking of taking it to an independant garage to have it serviced etc - what kind of cost would I be looking at, if it needed it's oil changing, brake fluid changing etc etc?
Cheers all, and apologies if I'm asking dumb questions...

Sorted the lock problems out - put a bit of oil off the dipstick onto the key, and worked in the barrel a couple of times - lock now works!!!
Found a slight issue where the car sometimes goes dead, as we slow down for a junction / roundabout etc. No spluttering or anything. Also, idle rev seems to be up and down, so not sure if this related. Any ideas welcome - had a quick look around the forum, but need to sit down properly and sift through all the posts for a definate answer.

when i took my mini for a service they charged £120 plus vat
however it's not too difficult to do one yourself (and cheaper) just read through the Haynes - or the numerous posts on here about servicing and you'll be fine

Cheers Minigirl - what would you do about the log book then? Just pencil in that you did one, rather than a garage?
EDIT - Just been through the receipts, and it has in fact had a number of services, but the garage failed to stamp the book.
Having a bit of an issue with the car at the moment - will post in the relevant forum.
