Is This First Gear Useable?

I am rebuilding by box and need to know if this first gear is reuseable? also the second gear dog teeth are in similar condition.

first and second will get alot more wear then other gears. personally i would replace them but im sure you wouldent have a problem if you just poped them back in.

however for peace of mind.

Matt, if Guessworks doesn't see this thread and respond you may want to PM him and ask that he look at the pictures. Don't forget to ask CTR about them also.

When I've ever beenn in a position to ask a question like you have I tend to use the theory that the fact you have to ask means you have doubts as to it's condition so it should probably be replaced.

You have obvioulsy dismantled the gearbox so it's not like you dont have a clue is it?

Replace them if only to save you driving along in first and second from now on thinking 'Did I hear something?'

I've seen worse....

Not one I'd use, but if you have no alternative, then needs must... In an ideal world the end of the dog teeth should be pointed, the more rounded/chipped they are the harder it will be to engage, but it'll still work until there are no dog teeth at all...

It's also quite likely that the synchro hub has the same pattern of wear.
