Well im looking to remove the break servo, but how would i go about doing this?

i mean i know i could probably undo the bolts and remove the split pin, but how do i make the breaks work again?

Whats involved in the conversion?

I did search and went through about 20 pages, but i couldnt find my answere anywhere...

Is it a remote servo or the later 'all-in-one' types.

The former just remove the servo and re-pipe..

The latter you will need a new brake master to replace the one which attached to the servo...

you will need a replacement dual circuit master cylinder.

But i have to ask why are you thinking of this?

I'd leave it in place, why would you want to degrade your brakes?

That's the later type GW mentioned, it'd take a bit of 're-engineering' to remove it. Just block off the vacuum pipe if you want to deprive yourself of its assistance.

It wont make any difference to the braking itself, just the feel of the pedal, i just wante to remove it to tidy the engine bay up as iv got something fancy i will be doin on my mini soon, but if its a case of changing all the break lines, master cylinder, etc... then ill just leave it.

err yes it will. Please just disconect the hose to the inlet manifold and block it to stop the engine pulling air in and then go for a drive. Have fun.

No i dont mean just dont just block off the hose coming off the inlet!!!!

I was asking how i convert to non servos assisted breaks, as i knew in some cases that i could just re-plumb the break lines in to bypast the servo, and i was seeing if this was possible to do with my mini and if it was how woudl i go about doing it, but as has been said with my servo i could need to change other things, sunch as different break lines, different master cylinder, etc...

After converting to non assisted breaking it will NOT make the breaking any worse it will just change the feel of the pedals!!!

I dont think you have read the thread properly nicklouse.

I think what nicklouse is trying to say is that the brakes will feel very much heavier - and having had a servo fail (or rather the vacuum pipe fail) I can confirm that! While it's true that the action of the pads on the discs won't change when you remove the servo, you might well have difficulty stopping safely unless you've got a very strong right leg. Nicklouse's suggestion about removing the vac pipe was just so you could get a feel for how heavy the brakes will be without the servo.

As for the conversion, if you really want to do it, it'll need a new master cylinder - the later type of servo (like yours) has the master cylinder built into it. You'll possibly also need a new pedal box (can't quite remember so don't quote me on that). But not a terribly simple job...
