hi, just getting my 1978 clubman project together now at last but hit a problem with the harness'

it has a cage, clubman buckets and sparco 3 point harness'.

my problem is where to mount the top harness points, i was going to mount them near the base of the rear seat back rest with an alloy bar to spread the load.
this would mean in a large crash the harness' would pull me down into the seat tho and break my back!

they are too long to mount to the top of the rear seat/front of parcel shelf nor would i fancy that much.

i have considered swapping for 4 points but see no real benifite.

i no there is a bar you can get to go accross the back of the roll cage to loop the harness arround then bolt to floor/rear cage mounts, that would work great but cant find one. i dont have time to make and weld my own in otherwise i would.

does the cobra clubman seat have any internal structure arround the eyelets to stop the harness' crushing your spine?!?!

i have seen one bloke that had tiny steel plates with a threaded hole that he used as a large nut to secure 4 points in, surely thats not accepted?!?!

how have you all done it? and does anyone know the minimum metric bolt size for seatbelt mounts?

thanks ben
