[Ouster]

You've probably all seen these knocking around on Ebay - one day I thought I'd take the plunge and get one:
(p.s excuse the photos, my phone struggles with close ups like this!)

Parts - lots and lots of parts! That was one of the things that impressed me with this kit - normally its about 10 pieces that you stick together, but this kit was really detailed.



Engine painting and assembly. Yes, my painting is bad! I have shaky hands :/

Dash built up - you have no idea how fiddly it was to get the decals on! There should be two more either side of the speedo but they were so tiny I got too frustrated and left them off.

So, there you have it. Good way to spend a few days if you're bored (and if you like the constant smell of poly cement up your nose for a week! )

Where did you get the kit from? I went to HobbyStores but it looked like they were closing down, even though they weren't! There used to be a shop in town that did nothing but plastic kits and diecast but that's gone. Hobby Craft might have them...

Got it off Ebay - they sent me a £7.50 off voucher so I used it on this.

I had this kit a few years ago, superb detail as always with tamiya,
I sprayed my shell same colour scheme, I'll try and find some pics..

Looks lovely mate,... Brush paintig is fine for the interior etc

but on the exterior wonders can be created with a rattle can

Yeah...with hindsight I should have rattled it, but I don't have anywhere in the house suitable for spraying and don't really have a garden at my Uni house either.

Instead of spraying, I sometimes use Warhammer paints, I have them in fairly good supply cause my nephew's well into it. They tend to be slightly thinner than normal model paints because they're designed to pick out the details on the faces and stuff. The don't neccessarily come in the same colours but you can normally find one that matches pretty well. They also do some new paints which are even better because they offer better coverage with only one coat, I've not used these yet but plan to commendeer some of my nephew in the near future. The only issue with warhammer paints is that alot of them are satin rather than gloss.

I went to Hobby Craft on Wednesday where they had a few long shelves of plastic kits. I was skimming across the models, Tamiya starter kits at one end which I went past then Revell at the other end. I couldn't see any Minis so I went over them all again. I was about to walk out when I spotted a single box at the back of the shelf near the starter kits. It was a Mini! So far I've painted the body and built the interior. I'm just waiting for the body to dry so I can put a gloss lacquer on it. I did some painted stripes which bled along the seams so I had to touch that up. It won't win any awards but it's good enough for me.

Ive got a die-cast kit on the go but havent done much so far as i cant remember where ive put the chassis

Here's mine. This is what I want my Mini to look like when I eventually get one. I'm not too happy with the way the paint turned out. It's got an orange peel texture and I can't get it out.
