The supply of double roller bearings for gearboxes has dried up..

I have 4 left, so quite simple if you want a rebuilt gearbox ( with a new double roller ) get in there quick.

JG - forgive my ignorance, but can you clarify this for me? Is using the double roller bearing a preference to another type, or does this mean there will be absolutely NO bearings available for rebuilding?

I think guessworks is referring to the big double roller bearing that supports the mainshaft in the centre webbing. I don't believe there is an alternative, and only one is used per gearbox. Without it a gearbox cannot be built!

Surely someone can run a new production batch, but I imagine we can expect a bit of a price hike?

you can get the odd one or two, but when you're looking for 10+ you've got no chance....

I believe MS north have some but are only letting them out 1 per customer.

Moss and MiniSport also still list them - but that doesn't mean they have many in stock. I can't see MS allowing such a crucial part to become completely NLA though.

Simon??!!

Nope rang them this morning, apparently Minsport have a load of gearboxes on their shelf waiting for them

So far I have tried...

Min-Its ( first place where I got the heads up )
MRA-Minis
Minispares ( all three of them )
Minisport
Minimine
DSN Classics

and I believe one of the major suppliers also has none

*shrugs shoulders*

We are pretty much in the hands of the bearing manufacturer RHP. Compared to when the Mini was in production, the number sof these required are significantly less, and with any manufcaturer, production numbers are key to whether it worth them making the part or not. We are applying huge amount of pressure to get these made, and I'll keep you posted on how we progress.

N.B. This is just one of a whole line of Mini parts that are getting harder and harder to get hold of, my job is definately not getting any easier

As you say Simon, this is just the tip of the iceberg, now the mini has been out of production for near as dam 10 years, things are slowly running out.. and I suspect the likes of RHP are not interested in production runs which are not in the order of thousands of units.

i know of a good bearing shop near me.if you want i can get there number.

they make them as well.

you might have a problem just ordering 10 - 15 tho.
you might need to order about 50 to get the price down.
