Hi,

at the moment i have a 2x70rms 2channel amp running 2 6x9's(80w nominal input) 4ohm.

If i put 2 coaxial 16cm speakers in could i wire these up to the 2 channel amp? making the outputs 2 ohm? Would this make my current 6x9s less powerful? And would it work?

Cheers

if you run a amp at 2 ohm you will get twice the power out of the amp but you must have a amp that will take 2 ohms

Dont know about other problems you will encounter but if you power it up that way you will lose sterio sound (either front/back or left/right). That was the advice i was given and i dont pretend to know exactly how it works but when i heard it, it made sense. May be worth finding out more.

Basically you won't have a fader (front to back volume level balance). This is assuming the coaxs go in the front.

If I were you I wouldn't bother. Either just stick with the 6x9's in the back, or if you can get a set of cheap components for the front and bin the 6x9s.

You could sell your 4 speakers and buy a cheap set of components that will sound great up front...

Rite if ur amp is 2ohm stable then this is what ull get:
2x4ohm speakers in parrallel= 2ohm

4x4ohm speakers in series/parallel=4ohm

can't rember what this does to power outputs etc... also think it depends on mono and stero ohms aswell. Hope this is a start.
If it ends up halfing the power u might aswell power the 6x9's of th hu and wire the comps to the amp or buy a 4ch amp.
