Shame I can't move the headlights out, so it will be a cross between a defender, an air portable lightweight Ser2/3 Land Rover, and a hot wheels toy jeep.

I'll have to have a chat with the police to find out the score with making a mock-up .50Cal to mount on the roof, and try and find a sandy cam-net to drape over it. (I'm a squaddie so that won't be hard at all, lol.)

Lol, My imagination is going into overdrive with this, work and play all rolled into one.

What is stopping you moving the lights out?

Let your imagination run wild chap, then get some ideas down on paper.

Maybe I could even do you some photoshops if you give me some picture of what your thinking, but it'll have to wait until I'm back in the UK .

To make it possible to move out the headlights I'd have to take off the front end and redesign the outer panels fron scratch. the steel frame that holds the ally panels on would have to come off too if I was to try and copy the shape of a defender.

As it is I am going to put an angled panel over the front of the wheel arches and build it around the wheel to allow me to mount the modified defender spats over the tyres. I think it helps to make the front look less boxy.

I've altered a photo slightly so you can see the idea I mean

I may put on a slightly more substancial front and rear bumper. The current ones are solid but look too small I think. Maybe it will look different if the car is painted sandy and the bumpers are black, or I might go for a tubular style one like a moke mounted above this one by a couple of inches. That means moving the number plate but then that's not difficult. (Bonnet mounted next to the spare wheel anyone?)

The proportions don't look far off a Saxon.

Is the screen(s) off a 2a or do they just look like it?

I think a cut down Lannie bumper on the level of the front number plate would look good. The flat wing tops look pretty handy but you could probl'y round off his looks easiest by moulding a fibreglass bonnet that's wider 'n round edged. also put sides and indicators above the wheels.

You'll defo be doing handstands if you put discs on :)

The screen was modeled on a S2 Landy, and I was looking at the landy bumpers today, he he he. I am just trying to resist the urge to smother it in spotlights ala the Tomb Raider SE's.

I wonder if I could get a tiny winch bumper on it??? The moulded bonnet is a good idea, and I was planning to move the sidelights out of the front lamps and put them and the indicators on the front wings already, lol.

Everyone that see's it laughs and tells me to make it look like a Mini WMIK, so should I rename it the WIMINIK?? I have got some plasitic pipe and a box to make the dummy roof gun, and can use some to make little smoke dischargers for the front wings. Got a small sandy cam net too plus the cam poles and pegs, so everything looks good.

As for the Saxon, now that would be a good look for my next mini project, don't think the wife would be impressed though, lol.

Had a bit of a tune up today. I got a timing light and a gas analyser at work so plugged Scampie up and had a go. He was massivly overfueling, no wonder he'd only run with the choke slightly out. Oh, and I'd forgotten what a pain points are, lol.

Also noticed the front tear drops had seperated, so a quick trip to minispares and he now sports a totally solid mounted front subby, I thought sod it and changed all the mounts to alloy ones.

Now all thats left is to fit the front disks and hubs, arches to cover the wheels, a land rover front grill, bleed the brake system and run it down the MOT station and see how it goes.

I am away for a week on wednesday so maybe the end of next week Scampie will be roadworthy again.

I may have something special here!!

I was researching the engine, trying to figure our what size it is. The plate is a bit worn, but I think the first three bits of the serial number are 10F!! If this is right, then I have a rare 1071 Cooper engine. I'll have to pull the head off and check the bore sizes.

Interesting, as far as i know, 1071's were only ever coded up as 9F, and 9FD.

The 10 prefix is only for 1098's. I'd really like someone to prove me wrong though, for your sake... wouldn't it be nice to have a 1071 in there!!! :dontgetit:

Oh, I was looking at the engine number list on another website and had got my hopes up (10F= 1071, 10H=1098). Since found a few others and it looks like I was wrong, Pants!!!

Still, my engine had definitly been played with, the head's been smoothed and ported, it's got A+ rockers on it, and it revs from nothing to the red line very quickly, and there's alot of oompf behind it too.

Can't wait to get it onto a rolling road and properly set up.

Hmmm, I had a good look around the wiring loom today, everything works but I have alot of taped off ends, unused plugs and odd bits hanging around. It looks very very scruffy.

I wonder, how easy it is to build a bespoke loom for a mini, missing out things like the heater, side repeaters, reverse light, interior light and the heated rear window?

This would definatly be the hardest thing I have tried.

Only if I get it right, if it ends up on the A406 in an inferno then it's egg on my face, lol

Fuse it in the right places and you'll be sound.

Just copy the current loom for the schematic and leave ut the branches for the bits that are no longer required . Might aswell set your lights up on the relay configuration while you're there.

Right, well I trial fitted a set of defender arches, massive and looked really silly, so I am going to try something else. I am popping to a trailer suppliers on tuesday to have a look at their arches, maybe I can find something there that will a, suit 10 inch wheels, and b, not look too outlandish on Scampie.

I made a little progress today. I have made up the templates for the addition to the front wings, and hopefully I have some ally sheet turning up tomorrow so I can measure up, mark the bits out and cut them. (An old motorway traffic sign from one of my mates who works in a scrappy).

I have also put my 12 inch minilights on for now whilst I refurb the four spoke wellers, plus they fit over the disc brakes I am putting on this weekend. I am going to fit 1/2 inch spacers and studs and carefully grind back the caliper edges until I can fit the tens on again, once I have finished them that is, lol. Luckily I already have spacered drums on the back so I'll just fit 3/4 spacers here to square up the track front and rear.

Hope to get some photo's on tomorrow.

As promised, here are the pictures I took the other day. Still have the 4 spokes on in this one.

I had to cut the front panel to gain access to the dizzy, and the oil filter. How Andy ever got his hands in there I'll never know.

The engine shot shows the metro carb fitted, and I had an old monza fuel cap laying around, so I put it on here, lol.

Also got a shot of the roll hoop, although I am a bit dubious about the seat belt mounts.
