I managed to 'modify' an old Land Rover stalk set and fit it to Scampie, so more checks and I think thats it, he's ready for the MOT.
I also thought sod it yesterday and got out a tin of green paint and a brush and did a quick spruce up here and there, he was never meant to be a concours vehicle anyway, and it fits in with the look I am after.
Come on TMF+ membership, so I can post a photo!!!

Guess what, FAILED!!
1. Move a seat belt mount on both seats, (may just chuck them and fit harnesses).
2. Sort out the unbalanced rear brakes, the tester thinks I may have a cylinder sticking on one side
3. Move the front brake hoses, they just touch the tie bars on lock
4. Replace the fuel hose from the pump to the carb. (Starting to show signs of cracking around the pump end)
Should be able to sort these today then back this afternoon for a retest

No. everything has been put on hold due to loss of garage, wife has been very ill, and now I have to move 230 miles due to work. Hopefully he'll pass the MOT next week, then I can drive him North, if not then I need to trailer 2 projects up to Yorkshire.

Unfortunatly, Scampie is off to the scrap yard today. The MOT check bought up several problems with his home built chassis, one huge split that I'd never noticed, the body was starting to crack and come apart (Ally welded panels), plus, he'd need a IVA inspection as he was 'SERIOUSLY MODIFIED FROM STANDARD'.
The MOT inspector called a friend who does the IVA inspections who popped round for a look, (saved me the huge fee for it, he builds kit cars too). There was no way he would ever pass a test as he is, the front end angles are all wrong, too many sharp edges, lights in the wrong positions, seat and seat belt mounts need moving/strengthening, no weight over the rear end (you can lift it with 2 hands), the list goes on.
So, I have stripped off what I can salvage, so he wont be going to waste, he will live on in some other guise.
Goodbye my friend, sorry I couldn't save you any more.
RIP SCAMPIE

What about giving him away? Someone might have some fun with him on their own land? I'd have it if I had some land to *willy* about in it on!
