post some pics front and rear view
are they automatics?
the 12... is probably 1275cc so i would use that one, the 10... probably 1098cc
i think they are both high compression (the end h)
are you sure the first letter is a y?
may not be correct pics would be helpfull as would any other numbers on the blocks

I'm afraid neither 12YE or 10YT are mini Aseries or A+ engine codes as far as i know.... can't find a reference to these two codes anywhere or in any of the books i have. Is there a chance you have accidently mis-read them?... maybe the block is dirty, obscuring the code and making it illegible.
Had a thought regarding this code however, 10YT\a\h\43923, I think you might have misread the code,... as it could look very much like this:
10V/Ta/H/43923 I think you misread the V as a Y. This would mean the engine is a VandenPlas 1098cc (1.1L)
As for the other code, I have no idea. There is only 1 type of '12' prefix code (by the way, 12 means it's a 1275 engine) with an E in the code where you have put it, and that is off a 1990>onwards Single Point injection engine with a 10:1 compression ratio. However,.. even then... the E is only in the right place for that code if you get rid of the Y and replace it with an A.
Hmmmm. Could be a 1275 off an AD017 shape Wolsely, Riley, MG, or Vanden plas fitted with 'S' rods, and the code would be more or less right,.. it's just the Y that's confusing things really, and the E.

Well, from those pictures, they are both 'early' engines as they're A-series not A+
the engine numbers tamped on them are Aftermarket,... they have had work done on them in the past and had new numbers put on them. the only thing that is really distinguishable (and that's if they've used the same prefix codes) is that the 10YT is an 1098cc and the 12YE is a 1275cc.

The Blue one has tappet covers so is a "Small Bore" (If not reworked, 1098cc max). The other doesn't, so 1275 or bigger - unless it's something really special like a 970s......
Measure the cylinder bore diameter - accurately, and we'll have more of an idea.

the gold one is very likely to be a automatic engine block (thats why there is a cover where the oil filter housing bolts up to), i believe this are internally diferent to manual engine blocks (oil ways0, i hope someone can give a definite answer on this.
the blue one is most likely a small bore unit, (cooper's had tappet chest covers the only big bore units to do so)
you would need to measure the bore size to be sure. around 70mm=big bore unit, 65mm=small bore unit
